Ben Stavnezer, ’27, and Aubryanna Snyder, ’27, were elected to serve as the next co-editors-in-chief of The Campus during the 2026-27 academic year. Stavnezer and Snyder bring to The Campus a combined ten years of newspaper experience.
Stavnezer joined staff as a layout editor in spring 2024. Since then, he has contributed to The Campus in a variety of ways, including by serving as news editor for one year and as co-editor-in-chief during the spring 2025 semester.
Alongside three fellow reporters, Stavnezer received a first place Student Keystone Media award from the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association in the ongoing news coverage category for his coverage of the formation of a Turning Point USA chapter at Allegheny and the series of campus events that followed.
With an extensive knowledge of digital design tools, prior experience at The Wooster Blade student newspaper, and many years of experience in different positions on The Campus, Stavnezer is highly qualified to lead the newsroom.
“I am honored to be chosen by the staff to lead The Campus onward from its incredible 150th anniversary and keep the bonds of journalism at Allegheny strong, ” Stavnezer said. “AB and I definitely have massive shoes to fill, but as co-editor-in-chief, I’m really looking forward to building on our staff’s strengths and keeping the campus community well-informed.”
Stavnezer, who is from Wooster, Ohio, is majoring in communication and media studies and is minoring in english creative writing. He is also a senior editor on The Allegheny Review and a member of the Sigma Tau Delta English honor society. After graduating, Stavnezer hopes to work in the editing and publishing field.
Snyder joined The Campus in fall 2023 as a staff writer, before being promoted to features editor the following spring. Snyder served as features editor for two years, guiding dozens of writers through the reporting process as they documented the people, interests and culture that define the Allegheny community.
Recently, Snyder stepped into the role of news editor, where she has covered topics such as college staffing changes and legal proceedings for a man charged with indecent exposure on campus.
Snyder has honed her storytelling skills since her freshman year of high school and has years of experience reporting on a wide range of issues. She is known in the newsroom for her thoughtful eye for a good story and commitment to seeking the truth.
“Becoming EIC for my final semester at Allegheny feels like taking on an enormous, intimidating responsibility while at the same time accomplishing what I’ve spent four years working towards; I feel both bewildered and encouraged by the fact that my peers chose to put their faith in me as editor,” Snyder said. “We’ve had such an amazing year celebrating 150 years of student journalism, and I’m most excited to continue on that legacy — such big shoes to fill — with my co-editor Ben and a relatively young staff. It’s going to be fun.”
Snyder is from Aliquippa, Pa. and is majoring in political science with a minor in journalism and documentary storytelling. She is also a student-athlete on the track and field team. After graduating, Snyder plans to attend law school and pursue a career in law.
