The Allegheny Student Government discussed the upcoming ASG election process and shared information about this year’s major capital expenditures project at its General Assembly on Tuesday, Feb. 17.
ASG Election Process
Attorney General Anna Kohler, ’26, announced that all information relating to the ASG presidential and vice presidential election for the 2026-27 academic year is now available via GatorHub and the ASG Instagram
page.Students will have until March 10 to register their presidential and vice presidential ticket using the Google Form linked on the ASG GatorHub and Instagram pages. The form asks for basic information about the two students, such as names and class years.
It also asks the ticket to describe their “goals and aspirations for ASG and the larger campus community” and asks the ticket to explain why students should vote for them. An optional question allows each ticket to submit a campaign slogan.
Each presidential ticket will campaign from March 11 to March 19. If there are more than two tickets running for election, primary elections will take place from March 20 to March 23. Then, the top two tickets will participate in a debate on March 26. Voting in the general election will then be open until 9 p.m. on March 30.
Cabinet Reports
Director of Finance Dominic Juliana, ’26, reported that the week’s expenses were $4,833.71 for five budget requests. The Model UN’s upcoming trip to Washington D.C. for $4,000 of the sum.
Director of Communication and Press Jake Slater, ’26, said he reached out to the Office of Marketing and Communications to create T-shirts for the spring concert.
Director of Organizational Development Brayden Devinney, ’26, reported that he is working on edits to the upcoming student leader’s handbook which will be distributed to registered student leaders soon. The transition document guide for changing leadership in clubs and organizations will be released next week.
Class Reports
Class of 2026 President Sydni Junker reported that the class is continuing to work on plans for Senior Week, with a budget to be defined soon. Junker also reported that a “Chomp Your Comp” event will be held in March.
Class of 2027 President Kirandeep Khroud reported that the class is continuing to work on plans for Junior Appreciation Week, with a budget to be defined soon.
Class of 2028 President George Asante reported the class’s first independent study hall event will be held soon, and that the class is working on a collaboration with the class of 2029 for a joint open tab at Grounds For Change.
Class of 2029 President Niki Hineman reported that two GFC open tabs are in the planning phase and that a mocktail event is being worked on.
Executive Reports
Vice President Douglas Malcolm, ’26, reported that he is continuing to work with the Information Technology Services team to keep the new televisions in McKinley’s Food Court working and that the team is considering expanding the project to add a TV with promotional material in Brooks Dining Hall. In addition, Malcolm reported that work with Gator Activities Programming to coordinate materials and organization for the spring concert has been in progress.
President Chezka Quinola, ’27, met with Student Engagement Manager Ella Horner, ’24, to update the Allegheny website’s official register of student organizations.
Quinola also reported that she is envisioning the ASG capital project to be a disc golf course around the Robertson Athletic Complex.
She said that preliminary planning has been done and that the director of Physical Plant is on-board.
Malcolm said that while the disc golf course is not finalized yet, it is the “not quite, but almost official idea.”
ASG’s next GA will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24, in room 301/302 of the Henderson Campus Center.
