Two new club posters are set to be added to the second floor balcony in the Henderson Campus Center after the Allegheny Student Government on Tuesday approved the Quantitative Finance Club and the College Republicans Chapter. Discussion at the General Assembly also highlighted Parkhurst’s urgent request for students to return all dishes and greenboxes.
Cabinet Reports
Director of Finance Dominic Juliana, ’26, reported that the approved budget for the week was $3,877.08, with $1,299 going to Women in Business and Economics and $744.87 going to Outing Club to fund gas and an upcoming trip.
Director of Diversity and Inclusion Hailey Herring, ’26, announced that she is working with the Life Design Office to collaborate on an event; more details will come in the future.
Co-Director of Student Affairs Lyra Lindsay, ’27, reported that starting Wednesday, Nov. 12, McKinley’s Food Court will have a self-serve toast station. Lindsay added that Parkhurst urgently needs students to return their dishes and green boxes to the dining halls. Since Parkhurst’s first request for students to do so approximately one month ago, only 5% of dishes have been returned. Already this semester, Parkhurst twice repurchased all of the dishes it started the year with — most of which have been taken by students.
Director of Sustainability and Environmental Affairs Aidan McGrory, ’26, reported the Office of Sustainability is continuing its search for a new sustainability manager following the departure of Kurt Hatcher, ’07, earlier this year. The Sustainability Manager Search Committee has selected 30 viable candidates from the pool of applicants to evaluate further, McGrory said, with hopes of narrowing down the number to under 10 promising candidates by Monday, Nov. 17.
Director of Organizational Development Brayden Devinney, ’26, announced that ASG will begin to hold office hours for student organization leaders on Fridays from 2 to 4 p.m. in the ASG office, room 316 of the campus center.
The Curriculum Committee, led by Attorney General Anna Kohler, ’26, reported it approved revisions to the Spanish major. It also approved revisions and the addition of a new course for the history major and is discussing changes to the environmental science major.
Senator Tristan Marinch, ’27, reported that the Finance and Facilities Committee met to review the college’s financial status. Marinch said the college’s current endowment draws and gifts total $35 million and that the institution has a goal of lowering reliance on one-time large funds. Enrollment targets call for 360 new students next fall, with the endowment providing a “solid runway to meet these goals,” Marinch said. The committee is also monitoring potential impacts from changes to federal loan policies. Finally, Marinch reported that internal financial evaluations (conducted by the college) place the college in the range of 6 to 7 on the Composite Financial Index, a measure of financial health ranging from -4 to 10. According to the index, a score of 6 to 7 indicates that the college currently needs to “focus resources to compete in future state” but remains strong enough to “allow experimentation with new initiatives.”

Vice President Douglas Malcolm, ’26, reported the installation of televisions in McKinley’s was successful. However, the devices to operate them have not arrived. Malcolm is working with Director of Communications Jake Slater, ’26, to develop a plan regarding what will be displayed on the TVs.
President Chezka Quinola, ’27, reported the accessibility walk on Monday, Nov. 10, was a success. As a result of the walk, Quinola is exploring whether it would be possible to install an accessibility ramp outside Ruter Hall. Additionally, Quinola invited ASG members to sign up for the Light Walk to help identify areas for lighting improvements on campus. The walk will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 6:30 p.m., starting from outside Murray Hall.
New Business
In its second round of voting, ASG unanimously approved the Quantitative Finance Club. The vote occurred after four minutes of discussion about minor clerical errors regarding elections in the club’s constitution that were ultimately deemed inconsequential.
ASG also voted to approve the College Republicans Chapter. Prior to the vote, there was a five-minute discussion about an issue in the club’s constitution relating to its election procedures. The confusion stemmed from lack of clarity regarding whether elections for executive board positions required earning half of the vote, two-thirds of the vote or two-thirds only if nominated by the president when filling a vacancy outside the normal schedule. In a discussion in which Quinola, Malcolm, Juliana and Senator Daniel Servey, ’29, weighed in, the issue was deemed largely inconsequential to the vote at hand. Kohler said she would address the issue with the club after the vote. The College Republicans Chapter was approved with 16 ASG members voting in favor, two abstaining and Servey voting against the club.
ASG’s next GA will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 18, in room 301/302 of the campus center.
