Local candidates visit campus to connect with students

Meadville City Councilmember Autumn Vogel, ’15 (left), speaks with Joe Leszczynski, ’25, during the ‘Meet the Candidates” event on Wednesday, Oct. 18. “I enjoy any chance to talk with the people who make up Meadville,” Vogel said, adding that students are a part of Meadville in her eyes. Vogel, a Democrat, is running for re-election alongside Deputy Mayor Larry McKnight.

Seven candidates for local elections showed up to the lobby of the Henderson Campus Center Wednesday night to meet their Allegheny constituents.
All the candidates in the Meadville City Council race — Democratic incumbents Autumn Vogel, ’15, and Larry McKnight, as well as Republican challengers Bill Lawrence and Marcy Kantz — were in attendance. Also speaking to students were Associate Professor of Political Science Shanna Hodgson and Associate Professor of Biology Lisa Whitenack, Democratic candidates for Crawford Central School Board, and Crawford County Auditor Christopher Seeley, ’10, who is running to be a county commissioner.
