I am absolutely terrible at this kind of writing. Writing this goodbye, I keep trying to imagine myself as a TV show character writing their memoir during the series finale while flashbacking to scenes we’ve all seen before. Despite all my effort, that type of melancholy introspection isn’t within the purview of my personality. But if I were to have my little emo Bart Simpson moment, I’d probably have this to say: While I can’t say my goal in life was to write for The Campus, I am still incredibly grateful for the time I’ve spent on staff.
Even though I’ve only been on staff for seven short months, I have had so many amazing experiences working with the rest of staff. Back in October when Editor-in-Chief Anna Westbrook, ’26, and Opinion Editor Milo Watson, ’26, bullied (gently encouraged) me into becoming games editor, I never expected to gain such a passion for writing. Since joining, I have gained a new love for writing both creatively and in more news-oriented modes. I am eternally grateful for my time on The Campus, no matter how short it was. I never thought it would be so fun to make silly little crosswords every week, and I loved hearing that people appreciated the charm they added to the paper.
Getting the chance to contribute to the paper in some way every week is such a great chance to contribute to the Allegheny community. I can only hope that someone takes up the position of games editor next year so that people can continue doing the crosswords: the only reason people pick up The Campus.
