Data obtained from the Chronicle of Higher Education regarding the compensation of the presidents of the Great Lakes College Association colleges reveal how President James Mullen’s compensation compares to Allegheny’s competitor institutions.
Mullen’s total compensation of $336,895 may seem high, but it is slightly below the GLCA average of $371,306. The Campus is looking into the reason behind a $14,000 bonus, the only instance of a president receiving bonus pay in the GLCA.
Allegheny’s average professor compensation of $118,500, just $2,000 above the group average, gives it a lower than typical president-to-professor pay ratio of 2.8. The GLCA average ratio is 3.25.
