The Allegheny Student Government (ASG) has announced the time line for the upcoming student presidential elections. Students interested in running for office should stop by the student government office on the third floor for candidacy forms.
Before the primary election, there will be a meet and greet with the candidates on Monday, Feb. 8 in the campus center lobby.
The primary elections will be held on Feb. 10 and 11.
“If there are only two tickets that are running for president and vice president, then we will not have a general election,” said Stephanie Albert, ’10, Director of Student Voting. “Also, if one ticket receives more than 60 percent of the vote, then we will not have a general election.”
After the debate between the remaining tickets on Feb. 16, the general election will be held on WebAdvisor on Feb. 17 and 18.
“Anyone can run for office,” Albert said. “We encourage anyone interested in student government, even if they’re not involved with ASG now to get involved.”
Student candidacy declaration forms are available in the ASG office in campus center room 316 and are due on Feb. 5.
