Allegheny Student Government kicked off its first meeting of the semester this Tuesday, mostly readying itself for future events.
Finance committee reported only three budgetary requests over winter break, totalling $483.43. Budget requests were $273 for “The Campus” Keystone Media Awards, $152.76 for Ultimate Frisbee to file for the Winter League Tournament and $57.67 for the Neuroscience club to provide food for an event.
The Director of Diversity and Inclusion, Kaleialoha Froning, ‘25, reported that due to low enrollment, the Indigenous Health Class that was in the works has been canceled, though work through ASG is being done to attempt to secure appearances from guest speakers.
Co-Director of Student Affairs Ben Keefer, ’27, reported that former Co-Chair Kyra Jordan, a former member of Allegheny’s class of 2025, is no longer attending Allegheny, and will not be returning this semester. A replacement representative is being worked on, along with moving forward into the spring semester with the dining committee and ordering feminine hygiene products for the Henderson Campus Center restrooms.
Attorney General Chezka Quinola, ’27, reported that the rules committee would be trying to have reviews of club constitutions completed in the near future.
Class Reports
Class of 2025, represented by Akari Brown, reported publicization of senior week events will occur in the next few weeks.
President Ella DeRose, ’27 reported that leadership is looking ahead to the next meeting with the Board of Trustees in February, aiming to focus on student challenges from the overall body. Additionally, a larger push for transparency will be implemented in college committees through weekly reports.
A new position on the ASG board was created this week, with the office of the Director of Communications and Press being nominated to be filled by Hailey Herring, ’26, who expressed a desire to begin working with social media platforms as soon as possible.
