The financial aid office works with students and parents to identify financial options to help pay educational expenses. We encourage students to apply for financial aid and renew their aid application information annually by the required deadlines for maximum financial aid consideration.
To apply for financial aid, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). By completing this form, you are submitting your required financial information for processing, so we may determine what kind of federal financial aid you are eligible for.
The FAFSA also serves as the financial aid application for Allegheny need-based aid. To begin the process of completing the FAFSA the first time you file (or the FAFSA Renewal in subsequent years), go to www.fafsa.ed.gov.
The financial aid office also administers the student employment programs at Allegheny College. These programs provide valuable learning and work experience. Students are strongly encouraged to seek positions that provide experience for future educational or career goals. Participating students usually work an average of 8 to 10 hours per week when school is in session. Employees under this program receive monthly paychecks for work performed. Employees are paid at least the minimum federal hourly wage; higher rates of pay are possible.
All financial aid programs have limited funding, so completing required paperwork and meeting deadlines is necessary for maximum aid consideration. The office makes sure Allegheny College is always in compliance with numerous federal and state regulations regarding the awarding and processing of financial aid.
