First-year student Cinna Krushel passed away Thursday, the college announced in an email to the campus community yesterday evening.
“At this difficult, heartbreaking time, we mourn for Cinna and extend our deepest condolences to her family, classmates, friends, and all who knew her,” the email read. “This is a tremendous loss.”
The college has not yet released a cause of death.
A vigil, to be held in the lobby of the Vukovich Center for Communication Arts, has been planned for 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 24.
Krushel’s passing is the second student death in less than a year. Last November, Danielle Duncan, ’26, was killed in a car accident on Interstate 79 around 20 miles south of Meadville.
Counselors from Edinboro Counseling and Psychological Services — the college’s mental health provider — are scheduled to be available in the Winslow Health and Wellbeing Center from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, and then from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Saturday through the end of next week. First Year Class Dean Erin O’Day-Frye and Dean for Student Life Trae Yeckley are also available, the email stated.
The email directed students who may need to speak with someone immediately to contact the Office of Public Safety at (814)332-3357.
