Allegheny kicked off its two-day celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day yesterday with a keynote speech by renowned poet Sonia Sanchez. Sanchez spoke on themes of social justice and activism to a crowd of students, faculty and community members in Shafer Auditorium. The celebration also included a diversity roundtable with Sanchez and others and a symposium on King’s legacy and community building.
