Fraternity sponsors car smash

“That was totally worth a dollar,” said one student as he walked away from putting a sledgehammer through the side of a van on Thursday.

The van belonged to the father of Gary Worthington, ’13.

“It was fine, but too far gone to pass inspection,” said Worthington. “It goes to a good cause, what other reason is there?”

The brothers sold hits for a dollar each, or five hits for $3. Half the proceeds will go to the ALS Association, the fraternity’s fundraiser, which raises money to fight amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease.” Lou Gehrig was a brother of Phi Delta Theta, according to Cameron Eddy, ’12. The other half will send the fraternity’s younger brothers to a leadership conference in Oxford, Ohio this summer.
