Allegheny Student Government met on April 15 to discuss end-of-the-year plans, vote on recognizing three clubs and report the budget.
Cabinet Reports
Director of the Treasury Doug Malcolm, ’27, reported that due to Easter weekend, the finance meeting which is typically on Fridays, will instead be held on another day. Other requests that come in online will be handled after, with no finance committee meeting this Friday, April 18.
Director of Finance Dominic Juliana, ’26, reported the total expenses for this week were $2,561.04, with Latinas on the Rise requesting $475 for mocktails for an event.
Co-Directors of Student Affairs Ben Keefer, ’27, and Lyra Lindsay, ’27, reported that Henderson Campus Center bathrooms will be restocked with health products on Thursday, April 17.
Director of Sustainability and Environmental Affairs Aidan McGrory, ’26, reported the sustainability committee met to plan a trivia event for the Green Club open tab that will be held on Wednesday, April 23, from 5 to 6 p.m.
Attorney General Chezka Quinola, ’27, reported the opening of senate elections for next fall. The deadline will be on April 18, and elections will be held from April 18 to April 20.
Class Senate Reports
Class of 2025 President Akari Brown wished good luck to seniors completing their comps and announced that caps and gowns for commencement are available in the bookstore for $50.
Class of 2027 President Liam Shields reported the finance request for the class’ final event had been submitted.
New Business
The Green Coalition, a merger of five former clubs currently in operation — Allegheny College Bike Share, Food Recovery Network, Green Students of Color Society, Students for Environmental Action and Sustainable Design Team — passed its first round of voting, and will have its second next week.
Upsilon Pi Epsilon, an honor society for international students in computer science, also passed its first round of voting this week, and will return for its second round next week.
Allegheny College Equestrian Team, a club seeking to bring horseback riding and equestrian sports to campus, passed its first round of voting this week, with the second round being held next week. While ACET has operated on campus since 2002, they are now seeking ASG recognition.
The final ASG General Assembly of the semester will be held in CC 301/302 on Tuesday, April 22.
